La entrega de esta distinción tuvo lugar durante el 20º Congreso Anual de ESPA celebrado la ciudad polaca de Sopot, una cita que convocó a los profesionales europeos líderes de una veintena de países para presentar las últimas actuaciones en el sector termal.  

El secretario general de la ESPA durante los 20 años de historia de esta asociación,  Joachim Lieber, fue el encargado de entregar el reconocimiento a la directora de Relaciones Internacionales de Termatalia, Emma González, durante la clausura del congreso.
Estuvieron acompañados por destacados miembros del comité asesor de la Feria Internacional de Turismo Termal, de Salud y Bienestar, como el secretario general de Balnearios de España, Luis Miguel López Carral, el secretario general de la Asociación de Termas de Portugal, Joao Pinto Barbosa, o el delegado de Termatalia en Portugal, Adriano Barreto.
También quiso participar en la entrega de este reconocimiento el presidente de la Patronal de Balnearios de Rumanía, Nicu Radulescu, entidad con la que Expourense fundó una red europea de ferias de termalismo y amparada por la propia ESPA.  
El 20º Congreso de ESPA contó con la participación de organismos como el Instituto Europeo de Turismo (ITC) o la Organización Mundial del Turismo, OMT. Entre las delegaciones de profesionales más numerosas de los países asociados se encontraban las integradas por el Consejo Nacional de Explotaciones Termales de Francia y la Sociedad Francesa de Hidrología Médica, quienes serán los anfitriones del próximo congreso de 2016 en la ciudad termal de Vichy.  
ESPA, que integra a las asociaciones de balnearios de 19 países, es una de las asociaciones con las que trabaja la Comisión Europea como interlocutora para promover el Turismo de Salud en los países asociados, así como para definir un destino europeo común y posicionarlo en mercados exteriores.
En este punto en el que Termatalia se convierte una herramienta importante de cara al ámbito latinoamericano prestando especial atención a Brasil, que es uno de los países que el Instituto Europeo de Turismo ha marcado como prioritario. País del que Termatalia cuenta siempre con la participación de un grupo nutrido de operadores turísticos, entre otros profesionales del sector como directivos de centros termales, representantes institucionales de destinos termales o medios de comunicación especializados.  
Este Congreso acogió también la presentación de la próxima edición de la Feria Internacional de Turismo Termal, Salud y Bienestar que se celebrará en la ciudad española de Orense entre el 24 y el 26 de septiembre.
La directora de Relaciones Internacionales de Termatalia, Emma González, fue la encargada de realizar esta presentación y estuvo arropada por la presencia en el congreso de dos de los delegados internacionales de la feria, la de Estados Unidos y Canadá, Camille Hoheb, y el de Portugal, Adriano Barreto. 
En Europa hay más de 1.200 balnearios, que son centros de salud médicamente respetados, y tienen un peso económico significativo dentro del producto interior bruto de los países miembros de la Unión Europea. Desde este Congreso se incentivó la cooperación público privada entre las asociaciones nacionales y regionales así como el sector privado en el campo de balnearios y balneología.
